Training Treibball

At this stage, most people in New Zealand have to rely on online resources to learn Treibball. As these resources are based overseas and train for a different set of rules, it pays to read the TANZ rules before starting so you can modify your training to account for the differences. However, the fundamentals of Treibball are all the same, and you are pretty safe with any form of foundation training, regardless of which country it has come from.

This page provides some links to various learning opportunities. If you know of a great video, book, online class, actual class, or private trainer that could be included here, please get in touch. Please note that only positive, reward-based training methods are acceptable.

Treibball Classes:

Otago Canine Training Club (Dunedin) run classes for all levels of Treibball. Please visit the club website www.octc.org.nz or contact admin@octc.org.nz for further information. OCTC is also happy to offer advice to anyone regarding Treibball training, regardless of location.

Facebook Groups:

Treibball New Zealand is an informal facebook group for anyone interested in Treibball in NZ. Advice, videos, discussion, notice of tournaments etc.

Online Courses:

Fenzi Dog Sport Academy occasionally offer online courses and workshops for Treibball. Although Canadian-based, the principles are the same. There is usually a cost involved, but all Fenzi courses are top quality and highly recommended.

Books:

Get the Ball Rolling by Dianna L Stearns is a very good book that will take you from raw beginner to intermediate competitor. Affordable and available from various online sources, including the excellent Dogwise site.
